The History of Dr. Dünner
Dr. Helen Dünner, a doctor and herbalist from Canton of Schwyz, Switzerland, founded Dr. Dünner in 1948. Dr. Dünner’s and her partner Dr. Let, a nutritionist and chemist, created healthy snack bars with an emphasis on all-natural quality ingredients.
Her first product was a nutritional sesame bar made with organic honey and chocolate. Dr. Dünner sold her sesame bars to specialty health food stores locally and to surrounding villages in Switzerland. In the 1960’s, Nestlé purchased Dr. Dünner as part of a larger movement to diversify within the food sector to meet the needs of post-World War II era consumers.
After Nestlé acquired Dr. Dünner’s company, a young Swiss entrepreneur named Peter Greither acquired the company in 1976. Due to Greither’s deep experience in herbal supplement creation through a long family history in the natural healing industry, Dr. Dünner introduced food and dietary herbal supplements to Switzerland and eventually, the entire European market. Greither created herbal capsules and tablets made with the same Swiss quality ingredients that inspired Dr. Dünner. Staring with small distribution to Switzerland, Dr. Dünner quickly became synonymous with high quality, dietary supplements and spread throughout Europe.
Dr. Dünner now manufactures hundreds of products that are sold throughout the world. The Dr. Dünner line of products includes healing herbs, daily vitamins, essential minerals and advanced mixtures for increased results.
